I'm Jianni Acosta

Founder of Haven & Stone Homes.

For years, I've worked inside homes that most people believed were safe.

As a licensed mold remediation contractor, I've been invited into homes after families became sick—homes with hidden moisture problems, poor ventilation, construction defects, and indoor air quality issues that often went unnoticed for years.

I've walked through homes where parents developed chronic health issues, children struggled with unexplained symptoms, and homeowners invested hundreds of thousands of dollars repairing damage that could have been prevented with better building practices.

Over time, I realized something that changed the course of my career:

Many of these homes didn't fail because they were old. They failed because they were never built with long-term health and building science in mind.

I became increasingly frustrated watching families spend enormous amounts of money trying to "fix" homes that should have been designed differently from the beginning. Too often, I saw builders prioritize minimum code requirements, speed, and cost over durability, moisture management, indoor air quality, and the well-being of the people who would eventually call those houses home. Building code establishes the minimum legal standard for construction—but the minimum isn't always what's best for human health. That realization became the foundation for Haven & Stone.

Our Mission Is Simple

To build homes that support the health of the people living inside them—not just on the day they're completed, but for decades to come. Every Haven & Stone home is designed using building science principles and real-world experience gained from years of investigating why homes fail. We carefully consider the systems that most builders rarely discuss: fresh air ventilation, humidity control, water management, air sealing, filtration, material selection, and construction quality.

Because a healthy home isn't created by one premium product. It's created by hundreds of thoughtful decisions working together. Our proprietary Healthy Home Standard™ establishes the baseline for every home we build, ensuring that health, durability, comfort, and performance are never treated as upgrades—they're the foundation.

But I kept running into the same problem. Healthy homes were only available to wealthy families. Most healthy home consultants require a minimum build budget, which leaves everyone else stuck with homes built to the bare minimum.

That's where we come in. Every Haven & Stone home is built to our Healthy Home Standard™ and offered in three sizes: 1,800, 2,200, and 2,600 square feet. Same standard, same building science, same care, in every home we build.

Because a healthy home shouldn't be a luxury. It should be the standard.

Why We Exist

Throughout my career, I've seen firsthand how poor building practices can change the course of a family's life. One project that will stay with me forever involved a family whose young daughter had a severely compromised immune system. What should have been their safe place became a source of ongoing illness. The home had been built with improperly installed windows, allowing water to slowly infiltrate the exterior wall assemblies over time. The damage wasn't visible until it had become extensive. By the time the problem was discovered, mold had spread throughout nearly every exterior wall of the home. The repairs required a full-scale reconstruction of much of the building envelope, costing the family more than $250,000—not including the emotional toll of being displaced from their home while worrying about their daughter's health.

The heartbreaking reality is that this wasn't caused by a flood or a hurricane. It was the result of preventable construction defects. That project reinforced something I had already begun to realize: many of the most devastating mold problems I encounter don't begin with catastrophic events. They begin with small mistakes during construction—mistakes that remain hidden for years until families are left dealing with the consequences.

No family should have to wonder whether the home meant to protect them is quietly making them sick. That experience became one of the driving forces behind Haven & Stone Homes and our commitment to building homes where moisture management, durability, and healthy indoor environments are considered from day one—not after problems arise.

"No family should have to wonder if their home is quietly making them sick."
